  5.     I bought my ft-2200 a few months ago and I didn't have the AM recieve
  6. activated.  So I complained and got the mod for it:
  7.  
  8.     AM receive:  
  9.  
  10.         1.  remove top and bottom covers, then remove speaker.
  11.         2.  Lift the faceplate retaining tabs on top and bottom to
  12.             slide the face off (pull the knobs off first you knob).
  13.         3.  remove the retaining nut on the tuning shaft and lift
  14.             the clear plastic light guide off.
  15.         4.  The 12 surface-mount sized jumpers are now visible.  
  16.         5.  If AM is disabled, there should be a jumper across number
  17.             5.  Remove this and reset radio before use.  (I think it
  18.             is number 5, my radio had only one jumper in place, and 
  19.                it was the one for AM block-out.  If you have more than one
  20.             in place, contact me and I will give you the double-checked
  21.             version of this mod.)

  23.     Now, if you enjoy this mod, please send me any more that you have
  24. heard of for this model.  I would like a wide open radio to experiment with 
  25. it's power output across the spectrum.  I need FM Rx and Tx extended.

  27. Is it common for a radio to require a jump *made* instead of just *cut*?  This
  28. would have to be the case for this model since it doesn't have any jumpers
  29. soldered into place.  (12 pairs of surface-mount sized/spaced pads numbered
  30. from left to right).

  54. How to expand the TX of a Yaesu FT2200
  55.  
  56. Information provided by Yaesu Techs.

  58. This is a very involved process, if you need help, just do not attempt
  59. this.
  60.  
  61. 1. Disconnect the power cable from the radio.
  62.  
  63. 2. Remove the bottom lid (same side as the speaker), careful the speaker
  64. will drop out.
  65.  
  66. 3. Remove the speaker.
  67.  
  68. 4. Cut the green wire found under the speaker.
  69.  
  70. 5. Reattach the lid to the radio.
  71.  
  72. 6. Reconnect the power cable.
  73.  
  74. 7. Reset radio by pressing the MHz and Call buttons together and power
  75. up the radio
  76.  
  77. Old TX is 144.000 to 148.000 MHz. Old RX is 144.000 to 174.000 MHz
  78. New TX is 140.000 to 175.000 MHz. New RX is 110.000 to 180.000 MHz
  79.  
  80. NOTE:
  81. Any freq under 140.000 MHz is RX as AM, and a star will appear on the
  82. display.
  83. Do not use a modified radio for any bad things.
